Basée dans la belle ville de Zürich, avec de fortes racines encrées en Italie, Vanessa Spolidoro, mieux connue des adeptes de musiques électroniques sous le nom de Vanita, a parcouru un long chemin depuis son apparition sur la scène en 2009.

Vanita a joué son tout premier set en club à l'âge de 19 ans avant de s'impliquer dans la production musicale en 2010. Gagnant en notoriété à Zürich et au-delà, elle a obtenu une place de résidente au célèbre Hive Club en 2014. Ce fût étape déterminante dans sa carrière d’artiste, car cette résidence allait lui offrir une présence régulière dans l'un des points chauds de la scène club suisse!

Draft Label et le rejeton d'Einmusika, EIN2, ont repris des morceaux de Vanita pour différents singles, respectivement en 2015 et 2017, avant que son "Awareness EP" ne soit signé sur le label berlinois Katermukke en 2018. Vanita a récemment sorti son "Rain EP" sur Hive Audio. Cette nouvelle étape renforce encore sa relation de longue date avec l’un des club le plus actif de Suisse. À ce jour, elle a joué dans des pays comme l'Allemagne et les Pays-Bas, la Thaïlande, l'Afrique du Sud, Israël et les États-Unis, proposant des sets énergiques et une présence scénique captivante.

Avec d'autres sorties prévues et d'autres engagements internationaux à venir, Vanita est certainement l'une des artistes à suivre en ce moment. Où que vous soyez dans le monde, soyez assurés que Vanita est sur le point d'atterrir sur un dancefloor près de chez vous!

La crise sanitaire du Covid-19 a impacté, depuis le mois mars 2020, tous les secteurs de la musique et bien évidemment les artistes. Le CHOCOLATE a profité de l'occasion pour leur permettre, par le biais de quelques questions, de partager leur point de vue sur la situation.

Vanita, comment as-tu vécu toute cette période quand l’artiste ne peut plus aller à la rencontre de son public ?

Au début, c'était une période difficile, vous ne saviez pas combien de temps cela allait durer. Mais à un moment donné, je me suis habitué au moment et le temps a filé.

Est-ce que cette année sans dates t'a permis de te recentrer sur la création musicale ?

Oui, j'ai été très active en studio et j'ai également écouté beaucoup de musique, ce qui a continué à m'inspirer.

As-tu tenté de jouer en live streaming sur le net ? Que penses-tu de ce mode de diffusion ?

J'ai fait plusieurs live streams. Au début, c'était excitant, puis c'est devenu ennuyeux. L'interaction avec la foule me manquait tout simplement.

De quoi vit-on en attendant la réouverture des clubs, festivals et autres événements alternatifs ?

Je vivais d'air frais et d'amour - 😜je plaisante. Je travaille dans un bureau.

Est-ce que tu penses que les gens ont envie de revenir dans les clubs et festivals ?

Oui, je suis sûr que les gens veulent revenir sur le dancefloor. Peu importe qu'il s'agisse de festivals ou de clubs.La musique devrait redémarrer dans des petits lieux, des scènes en plein air. Ton été va ressembler à quoi ?

Je pense que l'été sera très bon. Je suis déjà booké jusqu'à fin septembre, et il ne me reste que quelques dates libres. J'ai vraiment hâte de commencer l'été.

Based in the beautiful city of Zürich / Switzerland and with strong roots in Italy Vanessa Spolidoro, better known to friends and followers of electronic club music as Vanita, has come a long way since she appeared on the scene back in 2009. Vanita played her first ever club set at the tender age of 19 before she started to become involved in music production in 2010. Gaining notoriety in Zürich and beyond Vanita finally secured a resident spot at the famous Hive Club in her hometown in 2014, a first breakthrough point in her career as this residency meant a regular presence in one of the hotspots of Switzerland’s club scene.

Draft Label and Einmusika offspring EIN2 picked up on Vanita’s tunes for singles in 2015 and 2017 respectively before her „Awareness EP“ was signed to Berlin’s Katermukke-imprint in 2018. To this date she has played in countries such as Germany and the Netherlands, Thailand, South Africa, Israel and the United States with energetic sets and a captivating stage presence. Vanita recently released her „Rain EP“ on Hive Audio, an overdue fortification of her long standing relationship with Switzerland’s busiest club meets label business.

Since March 2020, the Covid-19 health crisis has had an impact on all sectors of the music industry, and of course on artists. The CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL has taken the opportunity to allow them, through a few questions, to share their views on the situation.

Vanita, how did you feel though this whole period while artists weren’t allowed to go and meet their public?

In the beginning it was a difficult time, you didn't know how long it would go. But at some point I got accustomed to the moment and time flew.

Did this year without gigs allow you to refocus on your musical creation?

Yes, I was very active in the studio and also listened to a lot of music that continued to inspire me.

Have you tried to play live streaming on the net? What do you think of this method of distribution?

I had several livestreams. At the beginning it was exciting and then it turned boring. I simply missed the interaction with the crowd.

What did you live off while waiting for the reopening of clubs, festivals and other alternative events?

I lived on fresh air - 😜and love joking. I work in an office.

Do you think people will want to come back to clubs and festivals?

Yes, I'm sure people want to get back on the dancefloor. No matter if it were festivals or clubs.

Music should soon be starting again in small venues, open-air stages. What do you think your summer is going to look like?

I think the summer will be really good. I'm already booked until the end of September, and I have only a few free dates left. I'm really looking forward to the summer.
